Our annual scholarship is the largest and oldest resident service initiative in the history of HCA. Launched in 2006 at three-dozen apartment communities, the program now reaches more than 100 communities across Southern California and beyond.

Over two decades, we at HCA have made bold moves to ensure our scholarship program meets our residents’ changing needs. We boosted funding during a historic economic recession; introduced a new scholarship category to serve our growing population of senior citizens; and continue to initiate a variety of virtual and in-person learning opportunities.

For the courage and commitment required to successfully evolve, we are forever indebted to the magnanimous Ron H. Olson (1942-2020),  HCA’s President from its inception in 1988 until 2020.

Across his 32-year tenure, Ron’s commitment to providing of quality affordable housing rendered him tireless in developing our staff, implementing high quality resident services, and cultivating strong partner relations. His efforts contributed to the growth of our portfolio and our scholarship program.

In 2021, are renamed our scholarship n honor of Ron, who was as kindhearted as he was capable. Now in its 20th year, the Ron H. Olson Annual Scholarship heartily welcomes your interest and application for educational funding!
