THE APPLICATION
Applicant Agreement
We want you to be aware of all the fine print associated with the scholarship. Please carefully read the below.
1. The Academic Scholarship is designed to support the cost of tuition for resident high school seniors and adults aged 18+ who are enrolled, or planning to enroll, in an accredited degree- or certification-track program at a community college, 4-year college or university, or vocational/technical/trade school. An applicant’s educational program, term or semester should begin in August, September, or October of 2026.
2. Tuition is defined as a sum of money charged for teaching or instruction by a school, college, or university. Tuition does NOT include other educational expenses, such as housing, food, books, electronics, or transportation.
3. If scholarship funds remain after an Award Winner's tuition has been paid in full for the program, term, or semester commencing in August, September or October of 2026, additional funds will be applied toward the following semester(s) or term(s). Remaining funds may be applied to other educational costs (e.g. books, supplies, parking, etc.) only if the institution keeps the funds in a student account to which these expenses may be charged.
4. Applications must be submitted online on/by Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Paper applications will not be accepted for the Academic Scholarship category.
5. The Scholarship Committee will verify the eligibility of any Scholarship Applicant with the Management Company of the community of residence indicated on the Scholarship Applicant’s application. That includes ensuring that the applicant is still a resident at the community listed in their application on June 6, 2026.
6. The Scholarship Committee will not consider applications that are incomplete or do not follow directions, contain false or misleading information, or contain writing that has been submitted in previous [TSA-]HCA Scholarship Application cycles.
7. Award decisions will be mailed to all Scholarship Applicants on Tuesday, July 1, 2026. If your contact information changes after you submit your application, it is your responsibility to update us.
8. If you are a Scholarship Award Winner, we will not automatically pay the institution listed on your application. To claim their Scholarship Awards, Award Winners must follow the directions provided in the award letters that we will mail out on July 1, 2026. If an Award Winner does not follow directions, it may significantly delay the payment and processing of an award.
9. Scholarship Award payments will be made directly to the institution listed on the application in a single, upfront payment, and never to the Scholarship Award Winner.
10. Scholarship Award payment may take 5-15 business days to be issued from the date it is claimed. Award Winners should allow an additional 3 business days for mail transit in the case of check payment, and up to an additional 3 weeks for processing by the receiving institution. Please plan accordingly.
11. If you are a Scholarship Award Winner, you will have until Wednesday, September 30, 2026 to claim your Scholarship Award. After that, awards may not be claimed.
12. If you are a Scholarship Award Winner, HCA will not negotiate or dispute pricing or any policies the Institution has in place, including but not limited to policies relating to award disbursement, attendance, and deferment.
13. If you are a Scholarship Award Winner for two or more program years, and you do not claim your award across two or more program years, we reserve the right to decline to award you in future.
